I was born and raised in the Chattanooga, TN area. I've always been fascinated by human behavior (what makes us tick?). To help answer that question I earned two Master's degrees - Forensic Psychology & Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Between these, they cover the spectrum of human behavior. I have experience working with trauma, addiction (as a substance abuse counselor), as well as working as a mental health therapist in the TDOC. I chose the name Therapy Center for Balanced Living because it's important for each one of us to find the correct balance for our lives.
I have continuing education focused on treating trauma because I believe trauma, big or small, is at the root of many mental health concerns. Those with trauma don't have to live with lasting negative effects from their trauma. I incorporate trauma therapy, as well as a person-centered approach to therapy, meaning I acknowledge you as an individual with unique experiences, listening (and hearing you) without judgment. Also, as a certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) therapist, I offer DBT therapy, which is helpful for clients with a variety of issues and concerns. My focus is to help each client heal while becoming aware of their own inner strengths and resources using therapy focused specifically for their needs.
The counseling process is a partnership in which we work together to develop a sense of balance, peace, and stability for your life. I value diversity and will honor you and your uniqueness. Regardless of your religion, culture, political views, sexual orientation, gender identity, or whatever else makes you the wonderful, original individual that you are, I am your ally and want to help you feel comfortable (or even amazing) in your own skin. I want to provide a space where you can grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to have balance in your life. My promise to you is to create a safe, relaxing, and judgment free space for you to heal.
Depression and anxiety can make life seem difficult. You may feel like life is an exhausting uphill battle, but together we can make life better, through counseling focused specifically on your needs. Life is not supposed to be a constant struggle. Let me help you.

Past trauma can stay in the background - an ever lurking darkness. You may have convinced yourself it's best not to talk (or think) about your trauma. But, untreated trauma affects your life in ways you don't realize - relationship issues, health problems, low self-esteem, etc. However, with trauma therapy you can learn how to heal. Let me help you leave your trauma in the past where it belongs.
